Age: 14+ (NCCP allows 14 & 15 years old to participate but they will not receive certification until they are 16)

There are many ways for badminton enthusiasts to take part in the sport beyond competing as an athlete. In order for a sport to grow it must have coaches and officials as well as players. The Badminton BC Sport Development camp is for individuals who want to explore the other avenues of badminton participation while developing essential life skills. Participants will be developing a range of skills including problem solving, critical thinking, organizational abilities, and group management.
Badminton BC Sport Development Camp will provide you with:
- Shuttle Time Bronze, Silver, and Gold lesson plans and video aids
- Officiating manual and diary for recording of hours
- Emergency First Aid training
- Theoretical and on court coaching training
- Theoretical and on court umpire training
- On court coaching evaluation
Participants coming out of this campo will receive:
- NCCP Shuttle Time Coaching Certification (upon passing evaluation)
- Level 1 Local Umpire training (certification upon passing evaluation hours and completing hours)
- Emergency First Aid certification
Participants who successfully complete the camp will find many opportunities available in regards to volunteering at sports camps, coaching at recreational centres, umpiring at local tournaments and much more. Secondary school course credits can also be earned through the completion of the Umpire certification and Coach Certification program.
