Badminton BC Welcomes New Member Services and Events Coordinator

Surrey, BC - Upon completing a comprehensive search and hiring process, Badminton BC is pleased to announce that Ken Thiesen will be joining the team of professional staff in the role of Member Services and Events Coordinator. 

A graduate of UBC’s Human Kinetics program, Ken returns to Badminton BC after 2 years pursuing career opportunities in the recreation sector. He brings his previous experience with the association, professional sport industry, enhanced by his recent focus in recreation and passion for working with the badminton community and the sector made for an excellent choice.

I had been a professional colleague of Ken’s in the past and I was very aware of his knowledge and quality of work.  His recent investment in professional development within another sector will benefit Badminton BC’s program and service commitment making him a valuable asset to the association.” said Penny Gardner, Executive Director. “I was delighted to find he was available and I have no doubt that he will exceed expectations in this new role and will take those programs to the next level. We are excited to welcome him back to the Team!

 “I am happy to be returning to Badminton BC and look forward to the challenge of improving our competitions and services to our members,” said Thiesen.

The competition was an eye opener from the response to the posting, to the experience and qualifications of applicants; to performances during the selection process. It is very encouraging for Badminton BC and the industry of the young talented candidates that given an opportunity will flourish in many roles. It is assuring to see the increased interest in sport administration as a career choice and the Next Gen is ready to step up,” said Gardner.
