AGM Date Change and Call for Nominations for the Board of Directors of Badminton BC

The Board of Directors of Badminton BC is proposing to move the Annual General Meeting to September 15th, 2012.  In order to uphold our Constitution & Bylaws, applications to the Board of Directors must be received by August 15th, 2012.

For the 2012 Badminton BC Annual General Meeting, there are:

  1. Two (2) Directors positions up for election* with terms of office up to three (3) years,
  2. Two (2) Directors positions up for election* with terms of office up to two (2) years,
  3. Two (2) Directors positions up for election* with terms of office up to one (1) year.

*If more than 6 eligible nominations are received prior to August 15th, a vote will be held by email ballot (with mailout for those members in our database without email addresses) to be sent out by August 24th, 2012 and received back by September 7th, 2012.

Badminton BC's new Board structure is now comprised of eight (8) Directors:

A. Six (6) will be elected by the membership.

B. Two (2) being appointed by the Executive Committee from the recommendations received from the recreational and business communities.

i) Recreation nominee - should hold a management position, sit on a board, committee, or council that represents leadership of a number of BC recreation facilities, programs, or groups.

ii) Business nominee - should hold a management position, sit on a board, committee, or council that represents the leadership of a number of BC businesses.

Please note that immediately following the Annual General Meeting where the Directors at Large are elected, there is a meeting of the Board, where the current Directors elect the Officers of the Society for terms of one (1) year.  These positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer while all other Directors are Members at Large.  All nominees are asked to evaluate their candidacy for one or more of these roles and identify this within their application form.

To be eligible to nominate, be nominated, elected, appointed or continue to serve as a Director, a person must be a Voting Member of the Society in good standing who is or will be nineteen (19) years or older at the time such person's proposed service on the Board is to commence (i.e. September 15th, 2012).

The deadline for receipt of nominations is 11:59pm Wednesday, August 15th, 2012.
