Badminton BC is looking for a project manager/event coordinator for the 2014 Yonex Canada Open. This prestigious international event will feature the world’s biggest badminton starts competing for a $50,000 prize purse at UBC Thunderbird Arena from June 30-July 5, 2014. We are seeking an enthusiastic team player with event management experience for a contract position from May 12-July 31, 2014. Download the application now, and send it in by May 9, 2014!
Primary Responsibilities
- Liaise with Badminton Canada, sponsors, grantors, and the host venue to ensure compliance standards are met
- Coordinate all aspects of the tournament, including (but not limited to):
- Transportation and meals for athletes, coaches, and officials
- Accommodation for athletes, coaches, and officials
- Accreditation for athletes, coaches, and officials
- Site vendors (including caterers, ticket sales, and merchandise booths)
- Coordinating volunteers and officials
- Working with communications/media personnel to promote event in print, television, and online
- Planning and executing the tournament’s opening and closing ceremonies
- Planning and executing other formal/informal events as needed
- Identifying and overseeing key point people for all aspects of the event
- Respond in a timely manner to all requests and communications from other agencies
- Ensure all sponsor and prize requirements are met
- Provide regular updates to the President of Badminton BC
- Other duties as required
Necessary Experience
- National or international event hosting
- Project management or event hosting
- Experience with Basecamp or other project management software
