Badminton Canada Announces National Sponsorship with Yonex

Badminton Canada is pleased to announce it has extended and expanded its sponsorship contract with Yonex Canada. Official press release below.

The agreement, which will stand for five years with an optional sixth year, will greatly enhance funding to support new and existing Badminton Canada programs. For National Team Athletes, this translates to increased direct financial and in-kind support from the world leader in badminton equipment.

Yonex will also provide enhanced support to other high-performance athletes representing Canada at major international events. This commitment will prove a boon to building the profile of Canadian badminton and increasing participation among elite level athletes by affording them more opportunities to compete abroad.

“The dedication these elite athletes show is inspiring,” said Paul Staudz, Marketing Manager for Yonex Canada. “We are honoured to be able to help Canada’s top players achieve great results on the international stage and we look forward to building on these results in the coming years.”

At home, Yonex’s renewed commitment to enhance its financial and in-kind support for the Badminton Canada Senior Elite, Junior Elite, and National Championships will help raise the standard for national badminton events.

“Badminton Canada is very pleased to extend our agreement with Yonex Canada,” said Peter Golding, President of Badminton Canada. “We have a long history working shoulder to shoulder to build our sport in Canada and we are excited to have reaffirmed this partnership for the foreseeable future.”

The renewed and expanded sponsorship agreement comes at a crucial time for Canadian badminton. With the 2015 Yonex Canada Open moving to its new home in Calgary, and the 2015 Pan Am Games taking place in Toronto, Yonex’s increased support of Badminton Canada will to make significant impact on the sport.
