Eligibility Criteria for Provincial and National Championships

To qualify for the 2017 BC Senior Provincial Championship, U23 athletes must compete in:

  • 1 (one) BC Senior/Open Circuit Tournament

To qualify for the 2017 Junior/U23 National Championship, U23 athletes must compete in:

  • 2 (two) BC Senior/Open Circuit Tournaments
  • BC Senior Provincial Championship

U23 Targeted Athletes for 2016-2017 and those eligible for Athlete Assistance Funding (AAP) must compete in:

  • 2 (two) BC Senior/Open Ranking Tournaments, or 1 (one) BC Senior Circuit Tournament and 1 (one) Badminton Canada Elite Tournament
  • 2016 BC Senior Provincial Championship

U23 athletes not playing the 2017 BC Senior Provincial Championship are not eligible to compete in the 2017 Junior /U23 National Championship. 


To qualify for the 2017 BC Senior Provincial Championship, Senior/Open athletes must compete in:

  • 1 (one) BC Senior Circuit Tournament

To qualify for the 2017 Canadian National Championship, Senior/Open athletes must compete in:

  •  1 (one) BC Senior Circuit Tournament and 1 (one) Badminton Canada Elite Tournament
  • 2016 BC Senior Provincial Championship

To qualify for the 2017 BC Senior/Open Provincial Championship, Senior/Open athletes must compete in:

  • To qualify for the Senior/Open Targeted Athletes for 2016-2017 and those eligible for Athlete Assistance Funding (AAP) must compete in:
    • 2 (two) BC Senior/Open Ranking Tournaments, or 1 (one) BC Senior/Open Circuit Tournament and 1 (one) Badminton Canada Elite Tournament
    • 2016 BC Senior/Open Provincial Championship

Senior/Open athletes who did not not play the 2016 BC Senior Provincial Championship are not eligible to compete in the 2017 Canadian National Championship.

Senior/Open athletes who did not not play the 2017 BC Senior Provincial Championship are not eligible to compete in the 2018 Canadian National Championship.

Badminton BC Membership

1) All players in the Badminton BC Senior Circuit events must be current members in good standing with Badminton BC.  Membership includes a Badminton BC Competitive membership and a National Players License valid from June 1, 2016 through May 31, 2017.

2) This is a circuit events and the Provincial Championship nationally rated events and there any player without the appropriate membership and players license cannot register. Membership fees are due before registering and entry fee payment is required at time of registration.   Participation can be denied if a player has an outstanding amount due.
