The 2018 BC Junior U15/U19 Provincial Championship will be hosted by Badminton BC in British Columbia from April 6-8, 2018 at Drive Badminton Centre. This event will be the final provincial championship event for U15 and U19 age categories concluding the 2017-2018 BC Junior Circuit season prior to the Junior National Championships to be held in Ontario in May.
Previously, the BC Junior Provincial Championship incorporated all junior age categories and was growing each year however beyond the capacity of Badminton BC and our affiliated clubs to manage and still provide a quality competitive and event experience.
The 2018 BC Junior Provincial Championship will be delivered over two weekends staging the U15/U19 age categories on April 6-8 and U13/U17 from April 13 - 15. The intent behind this change is to: 1) provide more opportunities for affiliated clubs to growing host capacity, 2) increase the inventory of venues available, and 3) a more manageable event for clubs to provide coach support for the athletes.
Participants are reminded that the Technical Regulations specify that regardless of age category, every participant eligible to compete in the Championship can only, over the course of the two weekends, compete in a maximum of 3 events - 1 singles, 1 doubles and 1 mixed. For example, U15 Girls Singles April 6-8th and U17 Girls Doubles and Mixed Doubles April 13-15.
This is consistent to circuit play all season long and the regulations of the National Championship.
