Team BC Training Camp Update and Funding Announcement - High Performance

The High Performance Committee (HPC) has decided to postpone its tentatively scheduled Team BC Training Camp in April to take advantage of a wonderful opportunity to bring together our Team BC athletes and coaches with some select world-class international athletes and coaches in late June.

The Vancouver Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club (VLTBC) and Badminton Canada, in partnership with Badminton BC, will be hosting the 2010 National Team Training Camp, June 26 to July 3.

Badminton BC and its Team BC - Training to Win athletes (and other athletes and coaches, for a fee) will have an opportunity to work with several world-class athletes and coaches during the week.

Details on the camp will be shared with the membership as they progress, including the possible need for Team BC athletes and their families to help billet their fellow Team BC athletes and/or national/international athletes and coaches.

The HPC is committed to ensuring that the Team BC Training Camp will be inclusive of both our 2009/10 Program and 2010/11 athletes, and, as mentioned above, will be open to other athletes and coaches for a fee.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our members in their planning around the tentatively scheduled April Training Camp, but ask that you share our excitement in the opportunities to be involved with our National Team Camp in June.

The HPC is also excited to announce that, due to the postponement of the camp until next year's program (i.e. June 2010 through May 1, 2011), we have secured up to $5000 in direct athlete funding, based on results of our 2009/10 Team BC - Training to Win athletes at their age-specific 2010 National Championships.

We look forward to updating the membership as we know more.

Sincerely,
Chris Trenholme
