Coaching Course for Westlu Badminton Club Members

Registration is now open for an NCCP Technical Level 1 Badminton Coaching Course in Richmond June 21 to 22. Due to a partnership in hosting this course, registration is currently only open to identified Westlu Badminton Club Members. After June 10, if there is still space available in the course, additional open registration will be on a first come, first serve basis to a maximum of 16 participants total.

The course will be taught by Abdul Shaikh at Spul'u'kwuks Elementary School in Richmond.

COURSE OUTLINE


At the end of the course, the coach will be able to:
• understand and use a standard method of skill development through the use of drills
• effectively organise large and small groups for skills, drills, modified games, and competitive practice sessions
• familiarize athletes with the Laws of Badminton, etiquette, procedures and organisation of the sport in Canada
• use a variety of proper feeding techniques appropriate to the need of the student

Technical
• teach all Level 1 strokes using a standardised teaching methodology
• visually demonstrate proper technique for both a right and left-handed player
• analyze and correct the curriculum strokes

Tactical
• introduce basic singles strategy
• introduce basic doubles and mixed strategy

Practical
• answer correctly a series of "Why" questions
• plan an effective practice
• shadow-swing all basic strokes
• accurately feed shuttles for all required stroke practice
