1. Team Selection
All U16 team members must be participating in the Team BC - Training to Win Program to be eligible, all athletes must be members of Badminton BC to be eligible. 2 males and 2 females will be chosen for each of the U14 and U16 categories by Singles results only from a 1 day trial. A third male and female for each age category can be chosen at the discretion of the Badminton BC High Performance Committee.

Date: Dec. 13, 2009
Location: Pinetree Community Centre, Coquitlam, BC
Start Time: 3:00 pm
Format: Round Robin pool play, top two in each pool move to a single elimination play-off, Finalists of the elimination play-off win spots on the team.
Fee: $15.00 plus must be a Badminton BC member
NOTE: All athletes that try-out for the team are expected to be able to attend the Western Canadian Team Championships and team practices leading up to the event.
The “tentative” Western Team Championships team will be announced by December 14th. Visit the Badminton BC website at www.badmintonbc.com for the team list. Final team list will be announced December 18th.
2. Team Size
The minimum team size (selected by 1 day trial) for the Western Team Championships will be one team of 4 males and 4 females (half U14 and half U16). One Coach and one Manager will be selected by the Badminton BC High Performance Committee prior to the trials.
One additional player (male and female for each age group) may be added to the team. The Badminton BC High Performance Committee will make the final decision with rationale provided.
PLEASE NOTE – Equal playing time is not guaranteed at the event. The team Coach has complete discretion when submitting team line-ups at the event.
3. Team Cost
There will be a cost of $300 per athlete plus meals, for those athletes selected to each of the teams. The cost will cover transport from Vancouver International Airport to host city & return, accommodations, tournament entry fee and Team BC uniform.
Badminton BC is actively promoting fundraising opportunities to reduce or eliminate costs to participants.
4. Appeals
Deadline for appeals will be December 17th by 4:00pm. NO EXCEPTIONS!
