SportsFunder Junior Travel Subsidy

*Please Note: Badminton BC has been notified that there will be limited funds allocated to the Provincial Sport Organizations for the 2009-2010 SportsFunder Junior Travel Subsidy. In previous years, the SportsFunder program through the BC Lottery Corporation has contributed funds to Badminton BC. These funds were specifically for travel costs for junior badminton players age 18 years and under to access tournaments in other areas of the province.
Below is the former criteria used for the allocation of the funding.
The SportsFunder program through the BC Lottery Corporation has contributed funds to Badminton BC. These funds are specifically for travel costs for junior badminton players age 18 years and under to access tournaments in other areas of the province.
The Criteria:
• All tournaments (up to the end of May 2008) attended must be sanctioned by Badminton BC and held within the provincial boundaries of British Columbia. Please check Badminton BC tournament schedule for available tournaments.
o Players may apply for funding for as many tournaments as they participate in provided the tournaments meet the above criteria.
• All players applying for travel allowance must be Full Members of Badminton BC members (as of tournament start date).
Eligible Expenses:
• Travel to tournaments by car or van must be of at least 200 km round-trip. Eligible expenses include fuel and portion of vehicle rental, if applicable. You must submit copies of your receipts to be eligible for any subsidy amount.
o Only the owner of vehicle or person named on car rental agreement may apply for travel subsidy.
? Carpooling is encouraged because splitting the costs between more people means it costs less for everyone to attend. (As well as being the “green thing to do!)
? The applicant is encouraged to share travel funds received with carpooling players (if players contribute to travel costs).
• Ferry travel - You must submit copies of your receipts to be eligible for any subsidy amount.
• Air travel - You must submit copies of your ticket(s) and receipt(s) to be eligible for any subsidy amount.
• Bus travel - You must submit copies of your ticket(s) and receipt(s) to be eligible for any subsidy amount.
Receipts/tickets are required with your application to get reimbursement for any of the above.
The Process
Travel subsidy applications must be sent to Badminton BC by 3:00 pm Friday, May 30th, 2008. (Applications received after May 30th may not receive a travel subsidy depending on available funds.)
The athletes’ participation in the tournament will be confirmed as part of the processing of the subsidy application. If your athlete(s) did not register online for the tournament you are applying for, please attach a copy of the tournament entry form, if available.
Please Note:
• There are limited funds available.
• To ensure equitable distribution of funds, all approved travel subsidy payments will be made in June 2008.
