Scholarships

As part of your Badminton BC membership, you have access to a wide array of grant and scholarship programs. Most colleges and universities offer their own badminton and athletics scholarships as well, so don't forget to to check those out if you're thinking of applying to a post-secondary institution. 

Margaret Mitchell Outstanding Achievement Award

$1,000 awarded to a graduating Grade 12 student for excellence in academics, sports, the arts or community involvement. Must be living in housing subsidized by BC Housing at the start of courses. Complete the online application form now, or visit the website for more info.

BC Sports Hall of Fame Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Award

Every year, the BC Sports Hall of Fame awards two Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Awards. These scholarships are awarded to one outstanding male and one outstanding female amateur athlete graduating from a BC secondary school.

These students will excel in a particular sport and exemplify the values, commitment and contribution to the community held by Jack Farley, an honoured member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Winners will receive $2,000, which is to be applied to their education at a post-secondary institution here in British Columbia. Applicants must be graduating from Grade 12 and demonstrate that they plan to attend a registered college or university in British Columbia within 12 months of graduation. BC School Sports Bert & Greta Quartermaine Badminton Scholarship

Dedicated to assist BC School Sports student-athletes competing in badminton at the high school level and their desire to attend an accredited Canadian post-secondary school.  This scholarship rewards excellence in both scholastic and athletic pursuits.  The successful application will be student-athletes who have balanced their achievements as athletes, leaders and contributors to their community. BC School Sports Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarship

Each year, BC School Sports awards a $700 scholarship to one male and one female student who truly excels as a student-athlete. Applicants must be athletically eligible, compete in a minimum of two BCSS approved sports during their Grade 12 year, and have a GPA of at least 75% in both Grade 11 and 12. The recipient of the BC School Sports Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarship will have made a positive impact at their school and in their community. BC School Sports Zone Scholarships

One $500 scholarship will be awarded in each of the seven BCSS Designated Zones. Successful applicants will have outstanding academic and athletic achievements. Applicants must be athletically eligible and compete in at least one BCSS-approved sport during their Grade 12 year. A minimum GPA of 75% is required in both Grade 11 and 12. Larry Ashley Scholarship

The Canadian Athletic Therapists Association provide a $2500 scholarship each year through the Larry Ashley Scholarship program, which gives funding assistance for qualified students to pursue studies in the fields of sports medicine or athletic training. The scholarship can be renewed each year for up to four years of study at a recognized institution. For more information, visit the scholarship website
