INVITATION

Badminton BC invites all eligible players to participate in the Centennial Tournament, a celebration event marking a milestone season of badminton in British Columbia.

This tournament is the opening event of the 2026–27 Junior A Series and Open A Series. It will also include Masters events in Men's Doubles (MD), Women's Doubles (WD), and Mixed Doubles (XD), featuring 80+ and 100+ combined age categories, determined by players' ages as of the tournament day.

The Centennial Tournament is designed as a showcase event, bringing together athletes, coaches, and the badminton community to compete and celebrate the sport. The event is open to spectators and the public, creating an inclusive and vibrant tournament atmosphere.

ENTRY CAPACITY, Eligibility & CONFIRMATION

The Centennial Tournament will have a maximum entry capacity of 320 players, allocated across event categories as follows:

❖ Junior A Series: Merit-based entry in accordance with the Junior A Series GCR

❖ Open A Series: Merit-based entry, with the top 24 players in singles and top 12 teams in doubles and mixed doubles

❖ Masters (MD/WD/XD): Includes 80+ and 100+ combined age categories (age as of tournament day). Maximum capacity of 100 players, selected on a first-come, first-served basis

If any category does not reach full capacity, Badminton BC reserves the right to reallocate available spots across categories or events to optimize draw sizes and tournament operations.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

Junior A (MS, WS, MD, WD, XD): main draw only; no consolation; best of 3 games to 15 points.
Open A (MS, WS, MD, WD, XD): main draw only; no consolation; best of 3 games to 15 points.
Masters (80+/100+ combined age, MD, WD, XD): Main draw; best of 3 games to 21 points

MERIT BASED SELECTION

U13–U19 (Badminton BC Junior Ranking) and Open (Badminton BC Senior Ranking) draw sizes will be limited to 24/24/12/12/12. This includes reallocation of available main draw spots where applicable.

❖ As this is the first tournament of the season and rankings are currently being updated in Tournament Software, the latest published ranking list immediately prior to the creation of the draws will be used to determine merit-based selection and eligibility.

❖ Entry acceptance for Masters events will be based on the order of complete and valid registration submissions (first-come, first-served).

➢ Registration does not automatically guarantee acceptance into the draw. Players will receive an initial confirmation of submission, and final acceptance will be confirmed once entries have been reviewed against available capacity and category eligibility requirements.

If an entry cannot be accepted due to capacity being reached, the player will be notified and the entry fee will be fully refunded.
