2022 BC WINTER GAMES (VERNON)
CALL FOR TECHNICAL OFFICIALS
Badminton BC is calling for Technical Officials who are interested in officiating the sport of Badminton for the 2022 BC Winter Games in Vernon from February 24th – 27th, 2022.
The BC Winter Games is held once every two years and is British Columbia’s celebration of sport and community. The purpose of the BC Games is “To provide an opportunity for the development of athletes, coaches, and officials in preparation for higher levels of competition in a multi-sport event which promotes interest and participation in sport and sporting activities, individual achievement and community development.”
The BC Games bring together British Columbia’s emerging high-performance athletes, coaches, and officials for three days of competition. This experience is an important development opportunity and stepping stone towards higher level sport competitions.
There will be One (1) Referee and Seven (7) Umpires required for this Winter Games. Interested candidates are asked to submit their application. Selection from local Vernon region will be a priority, but candidates from anywhere in BC are invited to apply!
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Referee: At minimum, the Referee will be Provincial Referee Certified with BBC; hold a current BBC Officials Membership; will need to complete and submit a current (within 3 years of the Games) criminal record check.
Umpire: At minimum, Umpires will be Local Umpire Certified with BBC; hold a current BBC Officials Membership; will need to complete and submit a current (within 3 years of the Games) criminal record check.
*Note* If you do not meet the certification but would like to take on one of the Technical Officials roles, contact Badminton BC at technicalprograms@badmintonbc.com. Badminton BC wants to work with and help all Technical Officials reach the certification requirements needed to participate in the Games.
