The 11th Annual Presidents’ Awards took place on March 31st, 2010 at the River Rock Casino Hotel in Richmond, BC. The Presidents’ Awards are to honour long-standing dedicated volunteers for their commitment to their sport. Badminton BC’s 2010 winner is Sital Shoker for her commitment to Badminton in Victoria and in British Columbia.

Sital Shoker arrived in Canada in 1978 from Nottingham England where she learned Badminton as a young girl and she has been committed to the sport ever since. She started as an official in 1990 and was an umpire at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria as well as being on the competition committee. As an official, she has been to many international competitions including the 2006 Commonwealth Games, 2007 Pan Am Games in Rio de Janero, and Peru for the World Team Championships. Locally, she has been the President for Badminton Victoria and on the Board of Badminton BC. As well, Sital is an accomplished Masters player and recently won Gold in Ladies Doubles at the most recent World Masters Games.
